Things to do at Christmas in Tenerife

Family reunions
To make the most of the sun, the most common thing to do is to go to the beach to relax and share with family and friends. Locals and visitors alike often rent a boat in Tenerife in December to take a break on the sea.
Many welcome the new year on a boat with good music and when the 12 chimes ring out they eat the grapes and watch the fireworks display. Finally everyone takes to the water for the first dip of the year.
Christmas lunch

Christmas dances in Tenerife
These are dances in honour of the baby Jesus, the best known of which is the Baile de la Cunita, which is held every 24th December. For this, people gather around the child to sing Christmas carols and pretend to rock his cradle.
Arrival of the Three Wise Men
Many actors dress up according to the season to stage the arrival of the Three Wise Men, present a procession through the streets and some enter houses to leave presents.
