This tour is designed for experienced hikers.
The total duration of hiking will be approximately 5-6 hours and it requires a good physical preparation.
The hike will start from the road, which goes to El Portillo. First we will reach Montaña Blanca and see unusual and distinctive “Teide eggs” – the unique volcanic formation. Our trail will continue through lava fields and after about 1.5 hours the way will become steeper.
We will continue until we reach the refuge Altavista.
We will go further over the frozen lava towards the cable car station.
Our group will have a special permission to visit the summit of Mount Teide, so we will go all the way up there.
You will get the unique opportunity to enjoy an incredible view and, if weather conditions allow, even to see the other Canary Islands: El Hierro, La Gomera, La Palma and Gran Canaria.
After contemplating the spectacular view we will take a cable car down to finish our hike.
Note that the cable car cost (13.50€) is not included to the excursion total cost.
We would like to point out that the trip is quite challenging and good physical health and fitness is required. Also please be aware of altitude sickness possibility.
For the summit access you will need you ID, so please, take it with you.
You will also need some equipment do make this tour:
– Rugged or hiking shoes and walking sticks. If you need, you can also rent them with us. The cost is 3€ per pair of shoes and 1€ for sticks.
– Warm clothes, wind and sun protection.
– Enough of drinking water (at least 2 liters per person).
